Bechtler Museum of Modern Art at Levine Center for the Arts

The Bechtler Museum of Modern Art is dedicated to the exhibition of mid-20th-century modern art. It is named after the family of Andreas Bechtler, a Charlotte, North Carolina resident and native of Switzerland who assembled and inherited a collection of more than 1,400 artworks created by major figures of 20th-century modernism. The collection comprises artworks by seminal figures such as Alberto Giacometti, Joan Miró, Jean Tinguely, Max Ernst, Andy Warhol, Le Corbusier, Sol LeWit, Nicolas de Staël, Barbara Hepworth and Pablo Picasso. The collection juxtaposes whimsy with work of significant intellectual depth and historical significance.

Hours & Admission
Effective Thursday, January 14, the museum will remain closed for the next three weeks, reopening to the public on Wednesday, February 3. Please visit Bechtler.org for a full list of upcoming virtual programs.
