    Micah Cash explores how landscapes and their social histories influence cultural geography. Themes of ownership, demarcation, and utilization are currently explored through painting and photography. Such investigations contemplate the shifting social, architectural, economic, and political forces that define particular landscapes, as well as the cultures that are dependent upon them. Such investigations contemplate the shifting social, architectural, economic, and political forces that define particular landscapes, as well as the cultures that are dependent upon them. Micah earned his MFA in painting and photography from the University of Connecticut and his BFA from the University of South Carolina. Micah has exhibited nationally in both solo and group exhibitions and presents on his work and the cultural and social constructs of landscape. His paintings and photographs have been featured most recently in The Bitter Southerner, Fraction Magazine, Ninth Letter, Aint-Bad Magazine, Places Journal, Two Coats of Paint, and Charlotte Magazine. His first monograph, Dangerous Waters: A Photo Essay on the Tennessee Valley Authority, will be published by University of Tennessee Press in the fall of 2017.
