Chris Thompson and the Cultural Ensemble

Chris Thompson and the Cultural Ensemble are a multi-talented troupe that specializes in performing and teaching traditional, African and American styles of dance.

The Ensemble is comprised of dancers and drummers who deliver a high-energy presentation. During each performance, Thompson skillfully plays African rhythms on the Djembe and Congo drums that gets audiences clapping and stomping their feet to the roaring sound of the drums. Thompson enjoys teaching classes and performing for a variety of audiences, especially children.

Chris also creates Black History Month programs and other special events geared to meet your entertainment and educational needs. He works in collaboration with performing artists from other disciplines to create tailor made productions. Actors, singers, storytellers, instrumentalists, spoken word artists, cloggers and steppers often join together with Chris Thompson & The Cultural Ensemble for a multifaceted experience.

Every December Chris Thompson & The Cultural Ensemble holds a Community wide production to allow a larger audience to sample the different acts and dances which were created throughout the year. The show also allows guest performers to showcase their talents
