Built in 1915 and tripled by its most famous owner James Buchanan Duke, The Duke Mansion has been home and host to leaders of the 20th century. Duke’s most lasting legacies, including Duke University, Duke Energy and the Duke Endowment, took shape at the home. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, The Mansion is now operated as a nonprofit with all proceeds being used to preserve and protect this community treasure.

From I-77 North * Take Exit 9B (John Belk Freeway) to Exit 2A for Third Street * Turn Right at the bottom of the ramp onto Third Street/Fourth Street * Go five stoplights (Third Street becomes Providence Road) * After the fifth stoplight, turn Right on Ardsley Road * Go one block; turn Right onto Hermitage Road at the stop sign * You will see the exit driveway of The Duke Mansion on your left * Continue down Hermitage Road to the next driveway on your left * Enter The Duke Mansion through a pair of brick columns and wrought iron gate From the Charlotte Douglas International Airport * Leave the Airport, merge Left onto the Billy Graham Parkway * Turn Right at the first light onto Boyer Road * Turn Right at the next light onto Wilkinson Blvd * Go approximately 3 miles and merge Left onto The John Belk Freeway * Exit 2A for Third Street * Turn right at the bottom of the ramp onto Third Street * Then follow directions for I-77 North, beginning with go five stoplights From I-77 South * Take Exit 11A - the Brookshire Freeway toward Downtown * Follow the Brookshire Freeway until it becomes the John Belk Freeway * Exit 2A for Third/Fourth Street * Make a Left U-Turn at the light at the end of the ramp * Turn Left at the next light onto Third Street * Go six stoplights (Third Street becomes Providence Road) * After the sixth stoplight, turn Right on Ardsley Road * Go one block; turn Right onto Hermitage Road at the stop sign * You will see the exit driveway of The Duke Mansion on your left * Continue down Hermitage Road to the next driveway on your left * Enter The Duke Mansion through a pair of brick columns and wrought iron gate From I-85 North * Take Exit 36 to Brookshire Blvd. * Follow it until it becomes the John Belk Freeway * Then follow I-77 South directions beginning with the turn onto Exit 2A (above) From I-85 South * Take Exit 38 to I-77 South towards Columbia * Take Exit 11A - the Brookshire Freeway toward Downtown * Then follow I-77 South directions beginning with the turn onto Exit 2A (above) From 74 East * Bear Left on the John Belk Freeway * Exit 2A for Third/Fourth Street * Then follow I-77 North directions beginning with turning right at the bottom of the ramp onto Third Street From 74 West * Follow 74 West to Charlotte * Exit onto 277 South - John Belk Freeway * Then follow I-77 South directions beginning with exiting from John Belk * Freeway at Exit 2A
